Ranthambore is one of the best places in the world to see a wild Bengal tiger, and it sits within easy reach of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. Many of our guests come from abroad. These are the questions they ask most.
Permits and passports
Foreign nationals book the same Gypsy and Canter safaris as Indian guests, under a separate foreign-national category with its own official fee. The permit needs your full name as in your passport, passport number, age, gender and nationality. Carry your original passport on every safari.
When to come
- October to March: pleasant days, cold mornings from December to February, busiest season
- April to June: hot, often above 40°C, but excellent for sightings near water
- July to September: core zones are closed for the monsoon

Gypsy or Canter?
Most international visitors prefer a six-seat Gypsy: it is quieter and better for photography. Canters seat twenty and are easier to find at short notice. Both carry a forest guide. See Gypsy or Canter.
Getting there
Sawai Madhopur, the town next to the park, is on the main Delhi–Mumbai railway line. Trains from Delhi take around five to six hours, and from Jaipur around two to three. The nearest major airport is Jaipur. Read How to reach Ranthambore.
