Ranthambore safari permits are personal. Each permit lists every guest by name with a photo ID number, and the forest staff can check those details at the gate. Getting the ID right is the simplest way to avoid trouble on the morning of your safari.
Which ID works
- Indian guests: Aadhaar card, passport, voter ID, driving licence or PAN card are commonly used
- Foreign guests: passport
- NRIs and OCI holders: passport (check with us which nationality to declare)
The golden rule: same ID at the gate
Carry the original of the same document whose number is on your permit. If you book with your passport number, bring your passport, not your Aadhaar. A photo of the ID on your phone may not be accepted, so keep the original with you.
Names and spelling
Write each name exactly as it appears on the ID. Small differences can cause questions at the gate. Double-check ages and gender too; the permit is issued as entered and changes are difficult once it is booked.
Children
Children are listed on the permit with their name and age. Carry an ID or age proof for children as well if they have one, such as a school ID, Aadhaar or passport.
Can the names be changed later?
Permits are generally not transferable, and guest names cannot simply be swapped after booking. If someone in your group may not travel, tell us before booking so we can plan the best way.
Quick checklist
- Full name as on ID for every guest
- ID type and number
- Age, gender and nationality
- Originals packed in your day bag, not left at the hotel
Send these details on WhatsApp when you confirm and we will check them with you before the permit is issued. See how booking works.
