From Delhi, Ranthambore makes a perfect long weekend: leave on Friday, do three safaris, and be home on Sunday night.

By train

Several trains a day run from Delhi (New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin) to Sawai Madhopur, taking around 5 to 6 hours. Morning trains get you there in time for an evening safari; overnight options also exist. Book train tickets early for weekends and holidays.

By road

The Delhi–Mumbai Expressway has made the drive much faster, at around 5 to 6 hours depending on traffic and stops. Leave early to avoid city traffic. The last stretch runs through rural Rajasthan to Sawai Madhopur.

A simple weekend plan

  • Friday: morning train or early drive; check in; evening safari
  • Saturday: morning safari; midday fort and Trinetra Ganesh; evening safari
  • Sunday: morning safari; breakfast; afternoon train or drive back

Three safaris give you a good chance of a tiger. See how to improve your chances.

Tips

  • Book safari permits before train tickets for busy dates
  • Keep the same ID for the train and the permit handy
  • Carry layers in winter; the open safari vehicle is cold at dawn

Send us your dates and we will check permits before you lock in travel. Booking form.
